Yeshiva Kollel Shavey Shomron,
Building Campaign: Adding needed
classroom and office space.
Nestled
in the beautiful Northern Shomron under the shadows of Har Eival and Har
Gerizim one of the most decisive and dramatic points in Jewish history stands Yeshiva
Kollel Shavey Shomron. Bordered by the
ancient city of Shechem to the east and the historic Northern Kingdom city of
Sebastia to the north Yeshiva Kollel spiritual setting gives inspiration and
insight into everyday learning in the yeshiva.
In
1997, Rabbi Yehoshua Mordachi Shmidt, shlita, with full blessing and
encouragement from Gaon Rabbi Dov Lior, moved with his family from Kiryat Arba
to Shavey Shomron to become Rosh Kollel.
Just two years later, in 1999, with full endorsement from rabbinical
counsel, Rabbi Schmidt established Yeshiva Kollel, founding the first yeshiva
in the northern Shomron.
Today,
Yeshiva Kollel is an active yeshiva participating in the IDF's pre- and post-
army programs, training rabbis, and teaching students from varying backgrounds
and countries. Many of our students,
after finishing their formal studies, have continued to make Torah not only
their way of life but also their life's occupation. Baruch HaShem, we now have former students
serving in teaching and rabbinic positions both in the civilian and military
sectors. Others have gone on to serve in
hi-tech, security and building industries, bringing with them the values of
Torah learned in Yeshiva Kollel.
A
primary objective of Yeshiva Kollel is for students to leave equipped strong in
Torah, halacha, middos, and a love for the land of Israel. We strongly desire that our students, even
after completion of formal studies, continue to toil in the Torah bringing it's
values and teachings to their home, place of work, and every area of life.
Yeshiva
Kollel is in urgent need of classroom space.
The yeshiva does not have separate classroom space for the daily
lectures. All the lectures are held in
the Beit Midrash. During the course of
the day, there are several lectures being given at any one time which is not a
conducive learning environment. We have
started the first phase of building classrooms which included replacing the
metal roof with a cement one and additional
bathrooms. Once this first phase
is completed we can build-up adding a second floor to the Beit Midrash which
will be used for classrooms and some office space. Baruch HaShem funds have been donated to the
first phase but we are still in need of large funds to complete the second
phase. To donate please go to our contact page.
